happy guy, hey he's a happy guy

Sorry I haven't written in a long time. I don't have any excuses except for the fact that I was holding my breath underwater and almost broke the world record. I was also in Virginia and discovered that those people out there drink pure grain or cane alcohol. I can't remember what the hell they call it but they are crazy and they mix it up with kool-aid or something like that hawaiian punch stuff. All I know is that it destroys your brain cells and memory.

What was I talking about?

Thanks for the show at Lestat's. It was recorded and it is 3 CD'S LONG AND WE STILL MISSED 3 SONGS. Oops- I hit the caps lock. It will be available in 14 and a half days.

I saw Fahrenheit 9/11. I am going to see Outfoxed and I am going to see The Control Room so I should be really preachy the next time I'm on stage. I don't think I'll even sing anymore. I am just going to talk politics. It is going to be my own version of Meet the Press.

I also saw Anchorman:The Legend of Ron Burgundy and I totally dug all of the San Diego references.
It is the All Star break and my Padres are 2 games out. I will be singing the National Anthem sometime in Sept.

I am in the middle of reading East of Eden by Steinbeck and I am obsessed with the Hamilton's and the Trask's. I keep looking at everyone if they as worried about the two Salinas Valley families and that evil woman Cathy. I guess this book was in Oprah's book of the month club. I didn't even know she had a book of the month club. I ve never seen the show. I wonder if Oprah will still talk to me about it

Have you guys seen Eyes Wide Shut? I saw it the other night in my hotel room on HBO and it scared me like a little kitten on the Fourth of July. I fell asleep before the end so please tell me what happened. Was it a dream?

Come to the shows in Northern Ca. This week. San Francisco on Wed and Berkely on Thurs. Lisa Sanders is opening the shows in S.F and Berkley. She is spectacular and you will love her. I will be in Sacramento on Friday night. Dennis Borlek is driving up with me to sell shirts and cds. Should be scary having that idiot around. Just kidding Denny.

I need someone to help with the discussion boards to fix them please. I don't know SQL or sequel as they say. If you know it please contact me through this website or Tony. We want to fix it so it is easy to post things.

I am sorry for not writing in so long. Please forgive me. I promise it won't happen again. I'll walk the dog everyday and water the plants and do my homework. I promise ma I do.

Steven Butros Butros Galli Poltz

Can you believe that I fell asleep before the end too? haha

After you've walked the dog, can you clean the litter box?

Steve - what is the issue with the board? Have someone forward me the problems you are having with the code if you like. I have some experience with SQL and do some work with a friend of mine that runs his own website development business. If I can't get it straightened out, I'd be willing to bet he can.

Additionally - I need a mailing address for you. I thought of you the other day, and now have a small care package to get out your way - inclusive of a Styx t-shirt.

By the way... while I have a personal issue spoiling the ending of movies for anyone... I will say that you're likely to have been disappointed with the end of Eyes Wide Shut if you are anything like me. It's probably my least favorite Kubrick movie.

Posted by: VaDave at July 13, 2004 7:31 AM

I saw Eyes Wide Shut in the theater how ever many years ago that was... I can't seem to remember the ending. I do remember Tom and Nicole in the Warner Bros. store in Times Square as the closing scene. See what you missed? The Warner Bros. store.
I'm not very helpful.

I respect your political views and opinions, but if you get all Bono on me I'll have to take action. Here is your warning.... Oh I'm just kidding.

It's called "everclear" - the pure grain alcohol. I am lucky enough to have west virginian aquantiances who are very generous at offering everclear to those folks who have never heard of it, more so to entertain themselves than anything else. Hope they didn't make you squeal like a piggy, unless you like that kinda thing?!?!?! and make sure you check for ticks, EVERYWHERE!! :-) Peace to you...... PS - Outfoxed is great!!

I just had a flashback.

When you were playing DJ and suddenly Styx came pouring out of the speakers... followed by Cartman's voice.

Posted by: ms p at July 13, 2004 11:22 AM

Ahhhhh.... there's just nothing like Cartman doing Styx.

The Styx gear etc. is on its way out tomorrow Steve - enjoy. I'll look for an e-mail from Tony detailing what needs to be done. Hopefully I'm able to help.

Hey, if the San Diegan Poltz fans are searching for some good music while Steve is out of town, come to Java Joe's Pub this Saturday for Jerry Hannan. He's a musician from the Bay area who has co-written songs with Steve (Kilkenny Man), and has opened up shows for the likes of John Hiatt. He's funny and talented and cute -- a lot like Steve. Oh, yeah --- Steve, you should read Steinbeck's "Travels with Charlie" --- you might relate to traveling across America in a beat up camper.

I'm Butros Butros Galli. Put down the guns and listen to Bob Marley.

(only makes sense if you were making an Ali G. show reference.)

Why does Nicole Kidman's she is stoned? I'm not sure how much of EWS you were able to watch, but I will e-mail you a recap if you like. Steinbeck is amazing. I also recommend Hemingway & Faulkner's short stories. That is some damn fine reading.

Nice to see you back Mr Steve! Sounds like you are keeping yourself out of trouble... sort of. Please get into more soon so that you can keep us hordes entertained :) Hope you come back to Australia soon and play lots of rude songs for us again.

Love and squishes... the Bilby

Hey Steve. Good to hear you're back online and telling everyone what you've been upto (especially us people down under). Don't know how long we can wait to get another dose of Poltzerama!

Take it easy dude.

Hey Steve,

Congrats on the best site on the web, or at least the best "journal." If I'm ever having a shitty day, I always check and if there's a new entry, it makes everything good in the world. I'm not kidding either. Keep 'em coming at least once a week.

Are you still working with Bob Duffey? If so, tell him hello.

Take care,

Peter Harper (former Time Bomb Recs guy)

P.S. Of many great moments in Fahrenheit 911, my favorite is still "Fool me once, shame on... ???"

Posted by: Peter Harper at July 14, 2004 3:45 PM

My favorite part as well, Peter!

Yes, the potent mind altering grain liquid is called Everclear as cb already stated.
But the specific concoction of which you speak is aptly dubbed "Jungle Juice" & I can provide you with the recipe should you wish to do that to yourself (and your future children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great... you get the point) ever again.
They (being Southerners, from which I was birthed) mix it with fruit punch & miscellaneous fruits to leave you with the false impression that it is healthy.

Good stuff.

I just watched Farenheit 9/11 and was completely blown away. I'm really glad I saw it, but I don't ever want to watch it again. So glad they put that George Dubya quote in though... what a classic!

I recommend EVERYONE goes to see it.

Cheers!! The Bilby :)
