The next show I play is a special one. Do whatever you can to make it out here for this little shindig. Buddy Blue passed away a couple months ago. His daughter Lulu who is about to turn 4 will need to go to college one day. Buddy was a huge proponent of reading and writing. His daughter deserves to get the best education possible. Hell, he wanted her to become the first female President of the USA. ALL OF THE MONEY FROM THIS SHOW goes to the education fund for Lulu. I just spoke with Buddy's widow Annie, today, and she is holding up as well as can be expected after such a sudden loss. She and Lulu will be there with bells and whistles on, and I hope you will too.

La Jolla never really gets much live music these days so it will be a treat to play some tunes at such a cool little intimate venue. Located just one block from the ocean, The Morrison Hotel has all kinds of rock'n'roll photographs to look at, and it should be a beautiful evening. I hope you can make it out to this all ages event. I miss Buddy and think of him all the time and I just know he will be there in spirit.

I was JUST in there a couple nights ago, looking at a great Keith Richards print. I'm there. Can Phil go, too? He's been really into "One Left Shoe" lately.

Posted by: Westy at June 2, 2006 12:01 PM

thak you, good sir.

Posted by: sean at June 2, 2006 12:22 PM

can phil go too?
hmmm. i'm not sure if they allow dogs inside. if he doesn't mind hanging outside the front door he'll be able to hear perfectly (after all he IS a dog) and i'll bring him some kibbles and horses bits.

AND i will do my rendition of the barking version of jingle bells.
thanks joe.

Steve-

I'm just imagining what would have happened if Rosa Parks had decided to listen to the bus driver and got up and given that cracker her seat. We'd be living in a very different world right now and I for one am glad she stuck to her guns.

Phil just finished "Quiet Strength," by Rosa Parks and it's all he barks about these days. I'm sort of sick of hearing it, but I'm also moved by his newfound convictions. I wouldn't be surprised if he strolled right in and demanded the same rights and privileges as every other species in the room.

So expect to see Phil in attendence (inside), knowing that we could wake up to a very different world the next day.

I like that picture. Is that an oldie or a newbie?

I'm also inspired by Phil's courage to try and make a difference.

Posted by: bobby g at June 8, 2006 9:58 AM

stever,
I meant to tell you -- the other day I was having an online disScussion/disSpute with someone about the Dixie Chicks/Toby Keith feud, and I did a google to find out what shesaid/hesaid, and I found a really cool article by Buddy on the first search page. I thought that was so neat, and just another one of those small world things that seem to be happening to me a lot, with you as the common element. Weirdo. :)

Posted by: dana at June 8, 2006 1:39 PM

thanks dana, that was a great article.
