Carry The Torch

I keep seeing clothes drying in the sun. Everywhere I go it's clothes, clothes , clothes. Everyone has someone they love that they call family. The war here is still fresh and when I talk to people I feel a sense of hope mixed with sadness and loss. I hear stories of former friends that were Serbian fighting thier Croatian friends. I spoke with a cab driver who said he was a Hippie and loved peace but had to fight. He didn't want to but had to. He thought the war was so senseless. I really liked him and his sense of humor. The guy who brought me my food was a drummer before the war and loves music and played with Serbs and Croats. He lost many good friends in the war and had a hope for the future but yearned for the past.

I love traveling.

Here's a song I made up today:

Listen Here!!!

Carry the torch without me boys
Iíll be waiting for you
Itís our flame that canít be put out
Full of pride and truth

Thereís not much sand in this hourglass
Shadows are closing in
Iíll be along when I catch my strength
You know you have a friend

If itís a dream it canít be stopped
Thereís no turning back
Leave me to rest while I catch my breath
Thereís strength if you stay with the pack

Carry the torch without me boys
Iíll be waiting for you
Itís our flame that canít be put out
Full of pride and truth

tell my wife I love her Iíll be o.k
and let go of my grip
Peace is more than just a dream
Itís within our fingertips

The sun is slowly setting
Thereís not much more to do
Leave to rest while I close my eyes
Boys donít look so blue

Carry the torch without me boys
Iíll be waiting for you
Itís our flame that canít be put out
Full of pride and truth
Carry the torch without me boys
Iíll be waiting for you

The picture is great. I'm not sure if it's my monitor, but it was a great optical illusion at first too. The shadow of the clothes looks like a separate line of all black items.

Oh and the song is great too! Looks like traveling is your muse.

I love waking up to these beautiful new ear-treats! Very reminiscent of Elliott Smith. Yes, vacation is just what you needed!

Steven, This is truly a wonderful poetic description with a lovely haunting melody. I really love it. Thank God for your wonderful mother who passed on her musical abilities to you. I had to look twice at the excellent picture to note that indeed the bottom row was a reflection. We wish we could be there with you.

Another beauty! Thank you.

I lived in Germany when the war was going on. In my German class I met many immigrants that were trying to escape the war. I will never forget one day a croatian classmate of mine brought pictures of the destruction of his home town and more. Those images and his story still haunt me.

the shadow looks like it says something in israelic. I think they use the clothes to send messages to each other without the enemy seeing. I'm pretty sure that one says, "don't eat yellow snow."

glad you're having fun.

how simple and haunting and sad and glorious and final and peaceful at last.
You know how to capture emotion and describe it simply and proudly...Too much?
Ok, I love it and wish I could write with out too many flowers....
