In case you were wondering...

Because I am a patriot and I love this country. Because I believe we need to change direction. Because with the world's eyes upon us this is our finest hour with a great chance to make history and turn this country around. Because I believe we need a measured thinker with a calm demeanor and a born leader with enough sense to listen and make adjustments for the greater good of the country. If you feel like I do or even if you don't, please register to vote and use that right for whatever you believe, but please do get out and vote. Vote your mind and your conscience and your heart. I can't stand it when somebody tells me who to vote for so please understand that I am just asking you to register to vote and get your friends to do the same.
I believe we have been duped by a haze of fear mongering leaders who don't have anyone's back but their own. People who have somehow hijacked the flag of The United States of America and questioned the patriotism and loyalty of anyone who would dare doubt them. I'm sick and tired of it and am ready for change. On November 4th, 2008 I hope we have a record turnout to the polls.
To register to vote please click here.
Peace,
Steve
P.S. I will be singing the National Anthem with Gregory Page at Wednesday's Padres vs. Diamondbacks baseball game. The game starts at 12:30 pm. We sing at around 12:20

Go Obama!!!
&
Nice masterpiece there, Picasso Polio!
well well well.
another liberal musician trying to get the peeps out to vote.
sigh.
maybe we should try the same thing as those fear-mongering so-called christians.
if you don't register and if you don't vote, osama bin hidin' will be at your door within 30 minutes and he ain't bringing no pizza.
this is the time we need to show the world that we may love nascar, but we love freedom and democracy more.
we love each other.
we love the rest of the world too.
we will respect other's religious beliefs as well.
but we will not tolerate over zealous extremists (muslim or christian) who think that their religion is is the only one and others must die if the don't believe.
so register to vote and the vote as if it's a matter of life and death.
BECAUSE IT IS!
these kids in iraq and afghanistan are dying for your right to do this.
show them you care.
show them your care for them.
we can fix the mess, we just need to stop the mess in it's tracks right now.
don't be an american't
go out and be a real ameriCAN.
peace on earth and goodwill to ALL mankind

Who would Ghandi vote for?
you are my hero for posting this. isn't barack the raddest? i LOVE him. ready for change as well, mz
so, does this mean you're playing denver?
dang steve, your self portrait has me grinning from ear to ear...the facial fungus, the 12 fingers.
i know, i know; it's horribly challenging to capture your dashing good looks AND your adolescent aura in two dimensions using only primary colors. it's hard. :)
as for the message; it's true. those that don't vote, have no RIGHT to complain. we take SO much for granted.
I completely agree, Steve. I Believe!
that's a self portrait? i'm confused. i thought you were catholic. what's up with the jewfro? you must have one hell of a straightening iron. little tip, mohawks are excellent for camouflaging the jewfro. i'm just sayin.
First of all the wars have been going on and planned before the Bush's took office. Barack is not going to stop them. He's a cousin of Cheney's and Bush's!!!
I will agree he's a nicer peson than the other one , but he's part of the system that will buck him before he can truly buck it.
So please do not delue oneself that the war's and world famine are going to end when he steps in office!!!
Hey Stevorino- Yeah, I can't believe ppl don't vote. I only realized it a couple of elections ago. When I turned 18, my sister & I got naturalized just so we could vote in the elections. That was our only reason to do it then. And it's crazy that some ppl don't think about it at all.
I don't like the stickers though that they give you. Can't they think of something else? Or nothing at all? Those stickers are just going to be that much more waste in the world, ya know?
--Dhruva.
you go Stevey Joe!
That's exactly what our veterans & brave soldiers fought for, freedom of expression, freedom to vote...freedom to sing about cannabalism...
Live in that moment at the Padres game, single minded...Namaste.
XOXO-J
word to the people mr. poltz. i do believe that i just read a post without sarcasm, cynicsm (don't worry, i won't tell the band) or a touch of humor. and a fine post it was.
however i am in minor disagreement about your tactics. yeah yeah yeah, so some may think it's rude or overbearing to tell someone WHO to vote for... so how about going the opposite route and telling them who NOT to vote for? Or just some good i.e.d. (improvised explosive data) on mr. maverick to get the internal gerbils spinning. like - he refused to vote to TWICE! to fund alternative energies, continues to support spending horrific amounts of our cash on war, is anti-choice and has stated he will appoint justices in the mold of that bastard clarence thomas... yet he still has a contract pending as the new face of cialis when this dog and pony show is over.
we're finally in the home stretch. a 71 day march to the changing of the guard. personally i have a carnal "no entry" policy for non-voters. in my case it extends to republicans as well... but of course i wouldn't dream of telling anyone who to vote for either.
peace!
Worth submitting to the cause...

Hey Poltz--is there anyone you DON'T know? :D
Shite.
ps. Ash rules.
Janice, Janice, Janice. . .???
I’m with Steve—just get out and vote. If you look around, at your bankbook, the cost of gas and our dependence on foreign oil, the last eight year’s worth of big-business driven policy that have reeked havoc on our planet, don’t care about stem cell research and the potential for additional ultra-conservative supreme court justice appointments, jumping into wars first and asking questions later, and you like it, then vote for four more years of McSame. Otherwise believe in change. Obama/Biden ’08.
Yes, everyone should take advantage of their right to vote, but when you really think about it is overwhelming to know who to really trust. It was simple with George W he had a smirk like my oldest brother when he is trying to pull a fast one over on you. But when you have to go by more subtle clues it is a daunting task to vote the right way.
p.s I am sorry I have to work tomorrow. I would have loved to hear you sing the Anthem at Petco. I live in a warehouse close to the park and we get great acoustics. When the Stones played there a few years ago sitting at my desk was like sitting in the stands. I hope you get a chance to sing the Anthem at a night game.
Seriously? No one has mentioned STEVE POLTZ for PREZ!!!!
hey steverino!
here's an idea....flex those bulbous broad shoulders and put your fingers to the keyboard and spark a conversation on the most controversial topic imaginable! ;-)
knock 'em dead today! i hope the game is an exciting one and you're on the edge of your seat applying excessive pressure to your hot dog (prior to mastication).
i would love to see it (the game, that is). *BIG unit is capturing video of you and page and feeding it to me.
* hoping that in making this joke, i have NOT squandered my chances of sharing a drink with ash on my next visit to sandy eggo.
Dawn -- you think this is controversial, wait until he starts talking about all the babies Obama has killed!
nonono Anad, it's the babies obama's GONNA kill through the use of Brzezinski as his foreign policy advisor.
:)
Didn't you vote for John Kerry last time?
Marianne, I disagree. Knowing who to trust is easy. Trust no one. At least, no one who would run for political office.
Personally, I think that the real message behind this post is that Janice and Colleen are nuckin' futs.
My friend invited me to the game today. It was a cool surprise to see you sing the National Anthem. Great job!
Steve,
Do you have an audio of today's game song? I so wanted to be there but I had to work to put gas in my VW. Thanks for the wise words regarding voting. So underrated. We've dragged our kids down to the polls with us since they were babies. When the youngest turned 18, she was more excited about registering to vote than about being able to call herself in sick from school. Now that's success! Rock on and keep the faith, I guess now it's hope!
Janet
Thank you Frag. I try to cull a compliment out of someone at least once a day, and you gave it to me freely!!! You're just too darn much...
Was that a compliment, Frag?
I've been called worse.
You can't fault a girl for wanting to see Poltz in the oval office and then secretly (or not so secretly) hoping he let's u be an intern.....
I'm a true believer! What a kick ass speech tonight.
His mom is my hero.
What's so funny aboot peace, love and understanding?
As an Australian looking from a far you dudes have gotta do something come November. The US was once envied and respected, you are now seen as an embarrasment due to Bush and Cheney. Iraq was all about money and it shows how dumb sheep most of the human race is. Governments like yours and ours at the time relied on people's ignorance, this allows for the propaganda of fear to take palce. Please correct it..
Love you work Steve, saw you in Perth and Sydney a few years back.
and yes I'm voting for Barack 'cause I like him as a person.
