I broke a G string on The National Anthem and nobody knew (woo hoo!)

This was a really fun day. Wait- this was a stellar day! I got to sing The National Anthem with my dear pal Gregory Page and his Uncle Dave before The Padres game today. Not only did the Padres sweep The Diamondbacks by winning all 3 games of this week's series but I got to break a G string which means I must have really rocked. After the Anthem I was in a post-show bliss. Then after the game we got to hang with future hall of famer Trevor Hoffman (on my right) and last year's Cy Young award winner Jake peavy (on my left) while the trainer fixed them with all kinds of drugs and whatnot. Just kidding about the drugs man.
During the game I got to give advice to Padres CEO Sandy Alderson (white shirt) and it seemed like he really listened. I need to get some sleep because I have an early flight to Mississippi.
This day ruled!

wow. your day was so good it just turned my crap day into rainbows. you couldn't be cuter if you were vomiting puppies.

it's not possible for me to be happier for you. so happy i'm gonna go right past the breaking g string without even a little bit of smarmy. your joy is a joy.

safe journey.

Dude, you're always breaking G-strings. What's up with that?

Posted by: Frag at August 27, 2008 7:59 PM

What an amazing day for you. You look like the cat that swallowed the canary in the 2nd pic.

So happy this site makes me. : )

most outstanding and fabulous post! you're BEAMING. :D

ditto on messiah's 'vomiting puppies' comment.

a few tips over the next few days:
1) call every woman your age and older "m'am,"
2) open doors for the ladies,
3) realize that your iced tea will automatically be LOADED with sugar, and
4) make SURE you get some fantastic soul food.

sadly, i think you'll miss the howlin' wolf memorial blues festival in west point, one day! :(

safe travels my friend!

And at least your whale tail didn't sink when you broke your g-string!!!

Your happiness is so contagious! Post show bliss just might be my favorite picture of you ever. Rock on fancy troubadour!

Posted by: Dana at August 28, 2008 4:37 AM

um. is trevor getting ready to take advantage of you? i mean, everything's unzipped... or did you just tell him to put on some pants for the picture?

my vote for the beaming is the fact that he's surrounded by half-naked baseball players. i'd be beaming if i were in that sammich too and i don't even like the padres!

Peavy and Hoffman! That's awesome man.
Congrats on the sweep of the d'backs and best of luck for the rest of the season.

Lisa, it wasn't that we didn't notice it, we just had too much class to mention it.

I love the mascots standing at attention in the outfield.

While you were preparing for your Padres anthem, I was having lunch at my restaurant, here in Halifax, with your uncles (Bud and Bernie) and their wives (your aunts), as well as your mom and dad.

Just so you know, I refused - even though they tried to get me drunk - to spill beans about anything pertaining to your personal life. Your mom is like the Spanish Inquisition! Sheesh... Your dad wants royalties for the Frog and the Bee poem.

I, too, was very happy to see the mascots in the outfield showing all the respect they could muster for the anthem. Still think you should've sung Oh Canada instead, haha...

lisa, i noticed it. but i didn't mention it because i was too engrossed with trevor's waxed chest and noticing that he got his appendix out just like i did! big ass scar and everything!

don't worry, i have NO class!

IMO men should never wax/shave/remove hair from their chests.

Hi Stevie Boy, Just got in from Halifax late last night. Cheers from all the relatives and friends there. We had a super time staying with your Aunt Sylvia and Uncle Bud and your cousins Greg and Lauraine Keith. Wonderful reunion with your Uncle Bernie and Aunt Joan and all the cousins. The view of the lake was as lovely as ever and we had a super lunch at your friend Mike's restaurant. What a meal but we couldn't get much gossip
out of Mike not even when your Ma used here CIA type questioning technique. Your Ma and I love the picture of your Ball game song and the picture of you and Jake and Trevor. You certainly have wonderful friends all over the world. God Bless you and stay happy. Love, ManPa.

i know you're working on that catalog of happenings in mississippi and memphis, but i'm DYING to hear your opinion about the political contest! i AM beside myself! where are you?!

unless, of course, you're looking forward to abortion being illegal, creationism being taught in schools, and the alaskan wilderness being obliterated for oil we *might* see in say, 10 years.

wow. sorry. where's ash when i need her. if you delete me, i'd understand.

I forget to tell you that you look handsomely dapper in your snazzy duds!!!

Posted by: Janice at August 29, 2008 4:37 PM
