I feel bad for Pluto

sp_padres423.jpg

pluuuuto23.jpg

Last night after the Padres swept The Dodgers in a crazy temperamental game with ejections and fights in the stands, I was sitting in the empty ballpark watching the cleaners clean, and I looked up at the stars. I was flashing back to my youth and playing baseball on a dirt lot with friends as the sun would slowly set. I remember it getting darker and darker and us straining to see a pop fly and arguing and grass stains and dirty knees and finally calling it quits. I also recall walking home with ball and glove and the smell of food cooking on the stove and my Mom telling me to wash up before dinner. The various meals always tasted so good. My Mom is an amazing cook and she always had something good prepared. I was a lucky kid. Thanks Mom.

Then I thought of poor Pluto this morning when I woke up and it made me feel sad for that demoted planet. They stripped away its planetary status. Pluto got demoted. Stripped raw and naked before our very eyes. Now our solar system is just 8. And then there were 8. Poor poor Pluto. I wrote you a song to let you know that I sometimes feel like you.

Listen here!!

Sometimes I feel like Pluto
Kicked out of the solar system
Iím on a corner leaning
On a lamppost itís 2 am
No cabs and Iíve got the bends
The other 8 are no longer friends

Sometimes I feel like Pluto
Kicked out of the club
Iím in a cafť eating
All alone and Iím feeling dumb
No place to call my home
Just floating like a piece of foam

Iím no longer a planet
Donít really understand it
Donít think that I can handle it today
Iím no longer a planet
Donít really understand it
Donít think that I can handle it today

Itís just Charon and Ceres and UB
And please donít forget about me
I used to be the favorite of Disney
Iím no longer a planet
Donít really understand it
Donít think that I can handle it today

Sometimes I feel like Pluto
Kicked out of the solar system

Bye for now,

SP

Listen to an old radio interview and maybe smile

aaaradio.jpg

This is an old radio interview I did a few years ago. Maybe 4 or 5? I just found it in an old trunk when I was cleaning my living room. It's sorta funny but then again- I don't really know what funny is. I was a guest on a now defunct San Diego radio station named 92.1. They let me play whatever songs I wanted and they called it a Coup d'Etat. If you want to know the songs I played I will listen to the whole broadcast and let you know. Listening to the interview made me smile because I really liked talking to the DJ whose name is Scott Riggs. Or was it Jason Riggs (his brother)?
The interview is 9 minutes long which is unusual for radio. I guess I just wouldn't shut up. I hope you enjoy it my dear brothers and sisters of the revolutionary arms dealers convention attendees.

Listen to interview here!!

By the way, I just got home from the ball game and the Pads won their 3rd straight game. Will miracles never cease? If by the grace of the beisbol Gods they should win on Weds. then they will have swept the Dodgers. Shhh! Don't tell anyone.
Yours truly,
Steveroni

Crunch Time

polio.jpg
I guess it's crunch time for The Padres. They are destined to break my heart again this time of year. The weather starts changing and football season is getting underway and the we are nearing the end of the beisbol season. The Pads start a 3 game game home stand against the Dodgers tonight. I think the whole season is at stake here. My Dad will be laughing at me if his Dodgers win this series and this is where teams teams need to sack it up. Why am I even a fan? Oh yeah: because it's really fun to yell at the TV.

I saw Little Miss Sunshine the other day and laughed and laughed and laughed. Have you seen it? Great cast and good road trip movie. I also saw Talladega Nights and thought the French NASCAR driver was the best part of the movie. I love how he says the name Ricky Bobby with his french accent. The guy who is the star of Da Ali G Sow is the frenchy gay driver. How can you not love the idea of a gay French NASCAR driver?

It is cloudy today and there is cool breeze coming through my window and it smells like sumer is waning. It's been a great one for me. Westy and I have become surfing stars. We hang out at winners' corner and paddle out on our boards in search of the perfect wave. Every once in a while we hit pay dirt. Speaking of pay dirt; I won 680 smackeroos at the horse track in Del Mar the other day. Woo Hoo!

I'll be touring a heap this winter so I better break out my snow maps.
SNOW MAPS! HERE!
More Later Gator,
Poltzy

a box full of anvils

anvil.jpg
hallway.jpg

Listen to it here!

I got a box full of anvils in my head
If I didnít know you Iíd probably be dead
My eyes are on fire like red hot coals
Get back in bed with your hot buttered rolls
You stick to me like hot fudge spoons
I like it when weíre nekkid flashing our moons
Treat me like a misbehavior punish me now
Pull me on a leash like big fat cow
(My love is like an old see saw
You cannot escape the claw)

Read me the prose of Gregory Corso
Pour hot wax on my sweaty torso
Take your phone and throw it in the ocean
Soothe my skin with your sweet sweet lotion
Clip my fingernails and snip my hair
Make me howl like I just donít care
Hide from me in the cold damp fog
Punish me like a bad bad dog
(My love is like an old see saw
You cannot escape the claw)

Lets watch roadhouse with Patrick Swayze
When he throws karate kicks it drives me crazy
Weíll order a big fat pizza pie
And then Iíll watch you seduce the delivery guy
I might be kinky but I ainít sick
I got a big sweet heart that goes tick tick tick
I just wanna wake up next to you
I got a bad bad case of the lovey dovey flu
(My love is like an old see saw
You cannot escape the claw)
I got a box full of anvils in my head
If I didnít know you Iíd probably be dead

Hey Superstars!

kitchen.jpg
Happy August 14th.
I love this day. A true national holiday celebrating nothing.
I really love nothing.
This summer I did a bit of nothing and it felt real good.
I went to a heap of baseball games.
I caught a foul ball! (Iíve been going for years and never caught one
Until now)
I went camping. Man, what a good time that was.
We didnít shave and we went to the loo outside.
People wrote songs and I was the camp counselor.
Next summer weíre doing 2 (count Ďem) song trips.
You guys are going to love it.

Oh yeah; I signed a new management deal!
3 year contract with lawyers and guns and faxes and
money. I havenít had a manager in years.
Hasnít it been obvious?
I am so happy to turn things over to them.
Blind Ambition Management.
They are very nice people and I am lucky to
have them interested in me.
They saw my showcase at SXSW and it
didnít scare them.
They manage The Blind Boys of Alabama
and Charlie Musselwhite and an up and coming
songwriter named Pieta Brown.
So look for good things on the horizon.
Pretty soon we will all be superstars!
Even you guys.

Click here to be a superstar!

Are you liking your magazine
That you bought at the store today?
Does it make you feel good that
youĎre keeping your house
the Martha Stewart way.
When you flip through the scented pages
Does your heart make a little fuss?
When you take a crap do you like knowing that
stars are just like us?

Hey superstars!
Youíre just like us
Weakly the stars are just like us

I used to think that I was a star
Because I sang to the movie Fame
But when I got in front of a real audience
It didnít really feel the same
But then I discovered magazines
And they helped me to feel so just
I found peace of mind
I was feeling so fine
Cuz the stars are just like us
Hey superstars!
Youíre just like us
Weakly the stars are just like us

Now the audience really cheers
Especially if theyíre drunk
And the magazine gives me fashion tips
And now I can look like a hunk
So Iím liking my magazines
That I bought at the store so far
it makes me feel good that Iím keeping my house
just like a superstar
Hey superstars!
Youíre just like us
Weakly the stars are just like us
(And Iím a superstar too
And you guys could be
One day maybe if youíll follow me
Weíll all be superstars!
Yay for us.)
