Will be there! Yeah for Poltz show in SF!
What an astonishing show! It's a small bar, long
and narrow, with a stage at the end of it, and
about 6 tables and 12 stools and a wooden
floor, with as many as 40 people there to see
Steve Poltz.
He walked in with a rolling suitcase and his
guitar, like he had just flown into SFO,
ridden the train, and walked three blocks
down Mission to 12 Galaxies.
He played at least 25 songs! Between them
he told stories about the songs. Early on, he
read a short passage that he liked from
God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater:
""Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies: 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'"
He was energetic and engaged throughout, and finally
dragged himself off of the stage after performing
"Wichita Lineman", to talk to the crowd and sell some
t-shirts from the luggage.
I can't really describe the concert without lapsing into
repeated superlatives. Make sure you see Steve if he
is playing anywhere near you. Take your friends.
